"It can be bizarre, today I had a normal day at school, then I went to Armani Couture and spent three hours looking for a dress to wear to the premiere, then I went home to do my essays."

The question now is, can Justin keep up with the Jonases?

Hot on the trail of a certain hunky pop star, the Jonas Brothers took home six ceremonial surfboards Sunday at the 10th Annual Teen Choice Awards, aka TC08, giving the fraternal rockers just 15 more to go until they match Justin Timberlake's grand total of 21 collected over the last decade.

More than 30 million Internet-savvy youngsters, preferably between the ages of 13 and 19, deemed the dapper trio Choice Breakout Band, Male Hotties and Male Red Carpet Icons, as well as the purveyors of the Choice Single ("When You Look Me in the Eyes," beating out Timberlake), Summer Song ("Burnin' Up") and Love Song ("When You Look Me in the Eyes").

Joe, Nick and Kevin's tally was matched only by the CW's teen soap with claws Gossip Girl, which also notched six wins (on a bedpost, naturally): Choice TV Drama, Breakout Show, breakout acting nods for Chace Crawford and Blake Lively (who was also named best actress in a drama) and top villain for the diabolical Ed Westwick.

Teen Choice Awards host Miley Cyrus was no slouch, either, toting home three of the show's unwieldy marks of distinction after opening the ceremony at Universal Studios' Gibson Amphitheatre with a performance of her new hit single "7 Things." ... Read More ...
Box Office Update

Time Warner Inc.'s ``Sex and the City,'' the film version of the television series, had $55.7 million in ticket sales at U.S. and Canadian theaters this weekend, ousting last week's top film, ``Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.''

Walt Disney Co.'s ``The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian'' dropped to fifth place from second with $13 million. The film is the second based on the books by C.S. Lewis. In the movie, the four Pevensie siblings return to Narnia to free the magical kingdom from the reign of an evil king.

Rounding out the top 10 in sixth through 10th place, respectively, were: News Corp.'s ``What Happens in Vegas'' with $6.85 million; the Tina Fey comedy ``Baby Mama'' from General Electric's Universal Pictures, with $2.22 million; ``Speed Racer,'' the Time Warner adaptation of the 1960s cartoon series, with $2.14 million; Sony Corp.'s ``Made of Honor'' with $2 million; and ``Forgetting Sarah Marshall,'' from Universal with ticket sales of $1.04 million. ... 'Narnia' is No. 1 at box office
-Posted by: Quivi

"The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" opened in the top spot at the U.S. box office, grossing an estimated $56.5 million and dropping "Iron Man" to No. 2.

After two weeks at the top of the box-office chart, "Iron Man" was still doing strong business, grossing an estimated $31.2 million in its third weekend for a running total of $222.4 million, the box-office tracker Box Office Mojo said Sunday.

The Cameron Diaz-Ashton Kutcher romantic comedy "What Happens in Vegas" took in an estimated $13.8 million and has grossed $40.3 million in two weekends. "Speed Racer" was fourth with $7.6 million, followed by "Baby Mama" with $4.6 million.

The rest of the top 10 were: "Made of Honor," $4.5 million; "Forgetting Sarah Marshall," $2.5 million; "Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay," $1.8 million; "The Forbidden Kingdom," $1 million; and "The Visitor," $687,000.
Caspian's Popplewell Got To Fight
-Posted by: Quivi

Anna Popplewell, who reprises the role of older sister Susan Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, told SCI FI Wire that her character gets to be in the thick of the battle this time around, unlike the first movie.

"I wasn't involved in any of battle stuff last time around, so to be the only one on the battlefield in a skirt is interesting," Popplewell told reporters during a press day in New York earlier this month. "I made sure I did twice as much horse-riding training as the boys before I got to New Zealand, because I didn't want to get left behind. Of course, I pretended I had no training whatsoever, so I just looked like a seamless professional."

In the sequel, which is based on C.S. Lewis' book, Susan has matured into a less reserved and more passionate character who fights shoulder to shoulder with her siblings and the outcast Narnians to save their beloved world. ... Read More ...
Anna Popplewell grew up in her 'Narnia' role
-Posted by: Quivi

It may seem like a dream to fans of C.S. Lewis' "Narnia" chronicles, but Anna Popplewell has been living Narnia for six years.

"I had my first audition for 'Narnia' when I was 13," she said in a suite at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, 52 floors over Central Park. "I made ["The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe"] when I was 15, I turned 16 on set and it came out when I was 17. We made ["Prince Caspian," due out Friday] when I was 18 and now I'm 19. . . . It's been quite a big chunk of my life."

As Susan Pevensie, Popplewell takes a more active role in "Prince Caspian," using her bow-and-arrow to greater effect, developing a bit of a crush on the dashing Caspian (Ben Barnes) and kicking Telmarine butt.

"I wasn't involved in much of the action in the first movie although I did do some archery," she said. "But this time I did do some more training and the funny thing is you learn a technique and form and then you get on set and your costume doesn't move like that and the camera has to move around you so you have to change everything. But we had a great team of stunt coordinators to make sure that we all looked good, like action heroes. ... Read More ...

Narnia sequel expected to be a summer smash
-Posted by: Quivi

The eagerly-awaited Narnia movie sequel from the series of children's books written by Belfast-born author CS Lewis is set to be one of the blockbuster's of the summer.

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is due for release in the US next month where cinemas are already planning early screenings from midnight on Friday, May 16, to meet the expected demand.

The multi-million pound film — the follow-up to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe — is scheduled for release in the UK in June.

The movie, featuring Ulster actor Liam Neeson as the voice of the godlike Aslan, is expected to be the box office smash of the summer, even out-stripping The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, which took an estimated $393m worldwide in 2005.

In the second of CS Lewis' fantasy books to be made into a film, the four Pervensie children — Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy — return to Narnia to aid the young Prince Caspian in his struggle for the throne against his corrupt uncle King Miraz. ... Read More ...
Dinklage Joins Narnia Family
-Posted by: Quivi

Peter Dinklage, who appears in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian as Trumpkin the dwarf, told SCI FI Wire that it was easier than expected to join the hit film franchise.

"A lot of the actors and crew had worked on the first one, so you are entering into a family, but everyone welcomed me with open arms," Dinklage said in an interview at New York Comic Con last week. "It was a nine-month shoot. Sometimes you go and do movies for a few weeks or a month, and you are out and on to the next thing or your own life. But this becomes your life. Nine months is most of [a] year, so I saw these people more than my wife!"

In Prince Caspian, Trumpkin has lived through the destruction of Narnia and becomes a cynical survivor with little faith that the Pevensie children can restore his world to order. Due to some structural changes in the screenplay, his role is actually larger in the film than in the book. ... Read More ...
Second Narnia film offers magic, danger, even catharsis
-Posted by: Quivi

'Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" is a "completely different world" from the first film of the chronicles, says Mark Johnson, producer of the upcoming second film based on C. S. Lewis’fantasy novels.

"This is a much more physical movie than the first one and it's still cooperating with magic. But I think the sense of danger is much more real."

Johnson, during his recent promotional visit to Tokyo, also said: "What's wonderful about the Narnia franchise is each story is completely different with new characters and new themes. And in fact in all seven books, the only common character is Aslan, The Lion."

"Prince Caspian" opens here on May 21, following the March 16 release in the United States.
